Daniel M. McLaughlin

As a former tradesman himself, Dan brings a unique and valuable perspective to his clients. Before practicing law, Dan was a pre-apprentice with Plumbers’ & Pipefitters Local Union No. 562 and brings with him the personal knowledge of how important collective bargaining agreements and Taft-Hartley Funds are to the men and women working in the field. Dan began practicing law in 2000 and has become a trusted attorney in the Greater St. Louis area for labor unions and their associated trust funds.

In September 2026, Dan joined J&K as a Member along with his colleagues from Hammond and Shinners. J&K is lucky to have an individual with this background; breadth of knowledge and go-getter personality join the firm. Dan has committed his life to representing labor unions and their members in all maters relative to their rights and duties under the NLRA, LMRA, with a focus on contract negotiations, representation of the local and its members in grievance hearings, arbitrations and litigation. Dan also provides general counseling to health & welfare funds as well as pension funds and various other jointly trusteed labor-management funds in areas of ERISA compliance, ERISA litigation, delinquency collections, and subrogation. In addition, Dan focuses on the representation of political subdivisions in areas ranging from general consultation in all aspects of Section 321 RSMo to the drafting of ordinances and resolutions, drafting of contracts for services and personnel matters.

Dan is excited to join the team at J&K. He’s looking forward to working with colleagues that are as committed as he is, even if he knows he will dedicate much of his time to making sure the firm becomes an advocate for the beautiful game and converting the firm’s managing member into its main supporter.
