Janine M. Martin

Janine Martin became a part of J&K as Of Counsel in September 2026, when Hammond and Shinners joined J&K. Janine has built her career representing labor unions and jointly administered employee benefit funds, providing strategic legal counsel on a wide range of labor, employee benefits, and bankruptcy matters. Through her hard work and dedication, Janine has earned the trust of organized labor through decades of dedicated advocacy and practical legal guidance. Her exceptional academic background, extensive experience in labor and employee benefits law, and commitment to serving labor organizations make her an outstanding addition to the firm’s labor practice.

Since beginning her legal career, Janine has focused her practice on representing labor unions throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area and serving as counsel to Taft-Hartley pension, health and welfare, and other jointly administered employee benefit plans. She advises clients on matters arising under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), the Labor Management Relations Act (LMRA), and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), including collective bargaining, contract administration, employee benefits, fiduciary compliance, and related litigation. In addition, Janine provides experienced counsel in bankruptcy matters affecting labor organizations and employee benefit funds, helping clients protect their interests in complex insolvency proceedings.
